This double bed frame is made from salvaged skirting board ripped out of a Victorian terrace (left glowing in the skip outside). They have been slightly sanded to reveal a colourful history. The legs are a offcuts of 12" x 3" floor joist. Nice.

On the adjacent wall is a desk with fitted shelves above. The desk top is an old panel door once covered in hardboard. We were very pleased to find this lovely shade of olive green underneath. The plan is to fill the panels with tiles - still hunting for the right ones. The shelves are simply 8" wide floor boards stripped and sanded. The drawer unit underneath the desk also made from old floorboards.

SCULPTURE AT SECRET GARDEN PARTY

Last week we went for a trip to the Cambridgeshire countryside to build an outdoor sculpture for Secret Garden Party. The following text is the description that went in the festival guide:

'Have you put the recycling box out Harold?'

'Oh heck! I'll do it in the morning'

'You'll never wake up in time!'

'All right then, I'll do it now. Crikey! Where's it all gone? The box is empty! What's this? A letter! "Dear Harold and Margret, we have decided to take a little holiday in the country before we get recycled. Some friends have found a magical place where we can transform ourselves. Regards"'.

We are back from Manchester and here's some photos of the finished table from the opening day of the exhibition (that is if you can see it for all the empty beer bottles - not guilty).

Chipboard has been invited to take part in an exhibition called Trade City which will run alongside Contemporary Art Manchester this summer. Our team will design and build an eating area to act as a temporary platform for impromptu encounter and exchange between visitors to Trade City.

We plan to use as much found material as possible and soak up as much sun as possible whist building it in the back garden. Here's a few of the initial drawings.
